The Greenhouse is Growing

Our one-of-a-kind greenhouse is finally complete and Nicole, our Crew Leader, has been working hard to get all of our spring vegetable and flower starts planted for our Spring Plant Sales.

To supplement our greenhouse, the crew has constructed a cold frame. This will not only help protect our crops from the unusually cold weather we've experienced this March, but will also protect our cold weather crops from the direct heat of the sun allowing us to grow crops such as, lettuce, cabbage, and spinach later in the season.

The ewes have finished lambing with a total of 23 lambs born this season, almost doubling our flock. 

More than a dozen community members attended the lambing workshop held at the farm on March 4th to learn the basics of lamb management.  Most participants were able to get hands-on experience docking tales and castrating wethers with an elastrator. The group also learned the benefits of and how to set up live-wire fencing.

Loma Rica Organic Farm will be offering a limited number of subscriptions to our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.  Community Supported Agriculture connects our farm directly with you.  Members can purchase a share of our harvest and are supplied weekly with a wonderful assortment of fruits and vegetables.
