2nd Annual Loma Rica Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch a Success

This year’s event, held on October 21, 2006 was a delight! With nearly 3000 people in attendance, the community showed curiosity for Loma Rica and a great show of enthusiasm. The many free activities for children were inundated throughout the day and smiling faces were abundant. The Farm Hilltop was opened this year, so attendees were able to stroll and visit the historic barns and nearly 15 acres of orchard and berry crops. That the local citizens feel Loma Rica is part of the greater Grass Valley area, and part of an accessible, integrated community is one of our primary goals – and this event went a long way towards that end.
The organic food, wagon rides, pumpkin patch, haunted house, draft horse demonstrations and other participating organizations all added to the richness of the event. In addition, raising awareness about local growers and the importance of eating local food is beginning to permeate this community and Loma Rica is proud to be a part of it.
Special thanks to the Small Farm Progress Days, Rock-n-Horse Ranch, all our wonderful volunteers and generous sponsors!
