Loma Rica has a detailed plan for the approximately 304 acres of Open Space integrated into the development. This land today accommodates a diversity of natural open spaces, including open pasture areas, treed hillsides, serpentine soils, and a variety of creeks and waterways.
An extensive network of open spaces is planned that recognizes the natural qualities of the site while providing a multitude of both passive and active recreational opportunities. These opportunities will be accommodated in a variety of spaces ranging from large regional- and neighborhood-scaled parks to small pocket parks located near neighborhood centers. The network will be serviced by an interconnected network of trails and paths for pedestrians and bicyclists alike, providing Open Space amenities for future residents of both the Neighborhoods at Loma Rica and all of Grass Valley.
At the physical and symbolic heart of this network is Wolf Creek, which runs east-west through the site for approximately 1.25 miles and presents a recreational opportunity of the highest caliber.
